This MP from Bikaner should be a role model for other MPs

Common people are tired of the “larger than life” privileges enjoyed by politicians who roam around the alleyways of power circles selectively forgetting their responsibilities towards people. They call themselves “Jan Sevaks” but act as if we the “Jan” are their “Sevaks”.

But this MP, from Bikaner, Rajasthan is a bit different. BJP MP Arjun Ram Meghwal travels to Parliament on a bicycle. The true greatness of Meghwal would be revealed only when we know that he also served as an IAS officer in various capacities in Rajasthan Cadre.

Meghwal was born in a traditional weaver family of Kismidesar village, Bikaner. He graduated in BA (Arts) and completed his LLB. Then he persuaded MBA from University of Philippine, Philippines.

It took two attempts for Meghwal to clear the interview for Rajasthan Administrative Services. Then, he got selected for State Industrial Services. Later, he got promoted to the Indian Administrative Services and worked as District Collector of Churu District. In 2009, he contested the election and won from Bikaner Lok Sabha constituency.

In the current Lok Sabha he is the BJP Party Chief Whip.

Meghwal says that his ambition is to serve the people to the best of his ability. He was awarded with the Best parliamentarian Award in 2013.
