Mrudula Murali: I became more patriotic after listening to the soldiers’ tales and their sacrifices

Actress Mrudula Murali is just back from the first schedule of her debut Bollywood movie, Raagdesh directed by National Award winner Tigmanshu Dhulia. The actress who is playing the role of Captain Lakshmi Sehgal is elated to share the experiences of her shooting in Dehradun. Describing it as fantastic, Mrudula says, “People on the sets were really cool and friendly. I was a bit nervous initially, as I had heard that Bollywood sets are a bit laid back kind but it was the other way. The way they work is very different. They are very punctual and focussed.”However, Mrudula says she found the climate a bit challenging. “We were shooting while the temperature was below 11 degree Celsius. Though we were all well-equipped with winter clothes and accessories, we could not wear it while shooting. It was freezing cold,” she recalls.

The Ayal Njanalla actress divulges that spending quality time in the cantonment area in Dehradun has made her more patriotic. “Our shooting was in the forest areas and around army camps. People over there are either in the army or retired soldiers. I got to listen to a lot of their stories. I was moved by their love for the nation and the sacrifices they make.”Mrudula says that similar to her character in the movie, she too is proud to be an Indian. Raagdesh is a movie on the Indian National Army (INA) Trials of 1945. “I am very patriotic and someone who likes wearing my patriotic tag on my sleeve. I am not just one who changes the profile pictures holding the tricolour flag on Independence Day and Republic Day, but I think of my country 24X7, on all 365 days.”

During her stay there, the actress also took time to travel. “In between one of the shooting breaks, I went to Haridwar and Rishikesh. It was my long-time dream and now I plan to visit the places annually,” she signs off.
