According to initial reports, some of them have suffered bullet injuries to their stomach, and one of them has also suffered a head injury. They continue to remain in a serious condition at the hospital.
Locals allege that the gunmen had first hurled country-made bombs at the party office before opening fire. They also speculated that it could be an incident of factional feud within the Trinamool Congress. However, police remained tightlipped on the cause of the feud.
Meanwhile, the police of Kharagpur Town Police Station have rushed to the spot and begun a lookout for the gunmen.
