Sunayana Dumala, the wife of Indian engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who was shot dead in an apparent hate crime by a Navy veteran in Kansas,expressed anguish about staying in the US,though her late husband believed “good things happen in America.”
She now wonders what will the US government do to stop hate crimes against minorities.
As soon as the incident occurred, Indian Consulate representatives rushed to Kansas to be with Srinivas’s family.
Consul General of India in Houston, Anupam Ray supervised the situation and assured Sunayna of all possible help.
One Alok Madasani was also injured in the shooting on Wednesday night. Alok has been discharged from the hospital.
While the FBI is analysing whether it was a hate crime, a witness stated the gunman shouted “get out of my country “before shooting.
Reports says the shooter, also got into an argument with his victims and condemned them as terrorists.
The Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj expressed shock on social media site Twitter at this shooting incident and expressed condolences to the dead man’s family.
