This is what Rahul Gandhi has to say about victory of Congress in Madhya Pradesh bypolls

Expressing happiness over Congress Party’s victory in Kolaras and Mungaoli bypolls in Madhya Pradesh Congress President Rahul Gandhi said that it was the ‘defeat of misgovernance’.

He took on microblogging site Twitter to express his happiness and also attacked the BJP government.

 

These seats were hotly contested between both BJP and Congress with Congress leader Jyotindra Scindia and MP chief minister Shivraj Chauhaan considering it as a prestigious issue.

Congress’s Mahendra Yadav defeated former MLA and BJP candidate Devendra Jain by 8083 votes in Kolaras constituency.

In Mungaoli, Congress candidate Brajendra Singh Yadav defeated BJP candidate Baisahab Yadav by 2124 votes.

The assembly seats fell vacant after the death of sitting Congress MLAs Mahendra Singh Kalukheda (Mungaoli) and Ram Singh Yadav (Kolaras).

It is Congress Party’s fourth consecutive victory in the state after winning Ater and Khajuraho constituencies in 2017.
