A photograph of Anant Ambani, the younger son of Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani posing with a lady friend named Radhika Merchant has gone crazy viral, so much so that, the internet already dubbed it as a picture from their engagement ceremony! However, the truth is far from reality and let us clarify this fake news once and for all – Anant Ambani is NOT engaged to Ms Radhika Merchant. Yes, there is no third wedding/engagement in pipeline at Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s family and it is time for all these wild rumours to shut it down.
After the elder siblings, the twins, Akash and Isha Ambani got engaged to be married to Shloka Mehta and Anand Piramal respectively, the rumours about their younger sibling, the 23-year-old Anant Ambani started doing rounds on the internet. It all began with a picture of the two posing gleefully for the camera in traditional attires surfaced on the social media. And, we all know anything related to country’s richest family is bound to become a matter of significant interest among aam janta. Amidst all the rumours and confusion, there’s one person who has become an overnight internet sensation – Radhika Merchant.
Radhika Merchant is not related to acclaimed Bollywood choreographer, Vaibhavi Merchant (at least so far there’s no connection cemented). Yes, they do share the surnames, and that is where the common factor ends. Though in 2017, Vaibhavi was a part of choreographing and celebrations of 40 years of Reliance Industries Limited in Mumbai but is not associated with Radhika at all.
Radhika Merchant is a 22-year-old aspiring career woman. She has graduated from prestigious New York University where Radhika Merchant studied politics and economics. Anant Ambani, on the other hand, is alumni of Brown University.
Before moving to States for her Bachelor’s Degree in political science, Radhika did her schooling from BD Somani, an International Baccalaureate Diploma and IGCSE certified Reception to Grade 12 school in Mumbai. She also went to Ecole Mondiale World School and Cathedral and John Connon School, both in the city of Mumbai.
Radhika Merchant in an interview with Medium (now deleted) spoke about working with Isprava upon returning to India in 2017. Isprava is into making luxurious homes, villas and reinventing the concept of holiday home destination in the country. Radhika Merchant joined them as a sales executive and has been happy to work in a space where she can make a significant contribution.
In the same interview, Radhika also disclosed a bit more about her likes and favourites such as English star Benedict Cumberbatch to be her favourite actor while her favourite TV character is Sherlock Holmes (no prizes for guessing). Alibaugh in Mumbai is where Radhika would love to have her holiday home while artistic Florence, capital of Italy’s Tuscany region is her all-time favourite vacation spot.
