Atleast four deaths reported so far as heavy rains lashed out in parts of India

Heavy rains have caused significant damage and casualties in different parts of India. In Himachal Pradesh, flash floods resulting from a cloudburst have claimed two lives in Solan and Hamirpur districts. The heavy rainfall in Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu has also caused destruction to crops, homes, vehicles, and livestock, leading to losses worth $95,139. Power supply disruptions and road blockages due to uprooted trees have been reported, and the Meteorological Office has warned of possible flash floods in several districts.

In Mumbai, sporadic heavy rains led to the collapse of two residential buildings. Two senior citizens lost their lives in the Vile Parle area, while two others were injured. The Mumbai Fire Brigade initiated search and rescue operations, and two people are feared to be trapped under debris in another collapsed building in Ghatkopar.

Meanwhile, in Assam, over 400,000 people have been affected by floods across nine districts. The NDRF deployed 10 teams to undertake relief operations, rescuing more than 120 individuals. The floodwaters have started receding, but three deaths have been reported due to the initial wave of flooding.

In Haryana’s Panchkula, a woman narrowly escaped being swept away by a flash flood in a river. Local residents came to her aid and rescued her from a vehicle amid strong currents. Additionally, the NDRF rescued eight people near the Ghaggar river in Panchkula.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and providing relief and assistance to affected areas. The Mumbai Fire Brigade, local BMC, and the NDRF are actively involved in rescue and relief operations.
