The non-resident businessman, Shajimon George, faces legal action as the police registered a case against him for protesting the delay in building permits, including trespassing into panchayat premises. An FIR cites obstruction to traffic and public movement.
Despite the immediate case registration, a WhatsApp message instructing Shajimon to appear at the station was sent on Friday. After returning to the UK, Shajimon received a notice to appear for questioning, but being abroad, he communicated his inability and expressed intent to pursue legal action. The police clarified that the case is procedural.
On November 7, Shajimon, an NRI in the UK for 25 years, initiated a protest at Manjoor Village Council, highlighting official indifference to building permits. His sports complex, Beeza Club House, remains inaccessible to the public due to the Village Council’s failure to assign a building number.
