Kickoff for 11th edition of KPL scheduled for Nov 25

The 11th edition of the Kerala Premier Football League (KPL) is generating football fever in the state as it is scheduled to commence on November 25. Anticipation is high among officials of the Kerala Football Association (KFA) with 20 teams set to participate in the upcoming tournament. The teams have been divided into two groups, each consisting of 10 teams, and the initial round will witness single-leg competitions within their respective groups. The top three teams from each group will progress to the ‘Super 6’ stage, employing a single-leg format, with the top four teams advancing to the knockout semi-finals. The grand final will also be a single-leg event.

Spanning across two venues, Malappuram Kottapadi Stadium and Kannur Jawahar Municipal Stadium, a total of 108 matches are scheduled for the league matches. Expected to conclude by January, the KPL promises to be an enthralling spectacle for football enthusiasts. Simultaneously, the KFA is organizing the Kerala Women’s League (KWL), a parallel league set to commence on December 5 and conclude by January 28, 2024. Featuring seven teams, the KWL will adopt a league knockout format, and the winning team will secure the opportunity to participate in the 2nd division IWL, organized by the All India Football Federation.
