Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu announced the Swachh Survekshan Awards in New Delhi on Thursday morning and said he is happy that the event has captured the results of spirited efforts of states.
He said Gujarat has done incredibly well as 12 of its cities features in the list of top 50 clean cities of India while MP and Jharkhand have improved their cleanliness levels compared to the previous survey as well.
At the event, Venkaiah Naidu also announced the winners of Swachh Bharat Awards. Indore grabbed the top spot while Bhopal finished at second.
New Delhi Municipal Corporation was placed at the 7th spot while two cities from Gujarat, Vadodara and Surat also made the list of 10 cleanest cities of India.
