Tamil Nadu headed for a mid-term election?

The talks for merging two factions of AIADMK led by O Paneerselvam and E Palaniswami seems to be going nowhere, with both camps unable to sort out their differences.
Former Tamil Nadu chief minister O Paneerselvam has claimed that Assembly elections in the state will take place even before the local body elections.
O Paneerselvam said this while addressing a gathering in Kanchipuram on Saturday.
While the camp led by E Palaniswami said that the statements by OPS is ‘mischievous’.
Tamil Nadu Finance Minister D Jayakumar, who is a member of the E Palaniswami (EPS) camp said that Nobody will believe ‘OPS’, who has only 2 per cent of party workers with him. he said that Assembly elections will be held only by 2021.
Earlier O Paneerselvam has accused the Chief Minister  Palaniswami of being an ally of Sasikala Natarajan’s nephew TTV Dinakaran.
OPS camp has asked for the ouster of Sasikala Natarajan and deputy general of the party TTV Dinakaran and their family members from the party as one of the key demands for merging with EPS camp.
Seems, team EPS have lost interest in merger talks with OPS camp.
Sources in the EPS camp had said that OPS camp was given enough time for the merger, but it does not seem interested. E Palaniswami camp feels it has the numbers in the Assembly and there is nothing to worry about.
With the talks of merger between the OPS and EPS camps on a standby mode, O Paneerselvam on May 5 kicked off his state-wide contact programme from Kanchipuram. As part of the outreach programme, O Paneerselvam will be meeting party cadre and people across the state ahead of the local body elections.
