Getting and keeping a pet dog can cost you in Dubai , if you don’t follow the prescribed rules in Dubai.
Keeping the man’s best friend as a pet comes at a huge cost here, mostly in the form of exorbitant fines.
The rules are as such follows:
First and foremost, you must make sure that your dog does not cause any harm to other people or their property. Failure to do so can get you a fine of Dh5,000 and also get your dog impounded.
So be sure to keep a tight leash on your pet when taking it outdoors.
Some residents have a habit of feeding strays. They are strictly advised against doing so as the practice could leave them Dh1,000 poorer. The act may also invite the involvement of the Legal Affairs Department.
Always remember to put a mask on your dog when bringing it to public places or be prepared to pay Dh200 as fine or Dh400 on repeating the offence.
Improper clean up and inappropriate disposal of dog waste can also prove to be an expensive offence. You might end up paying Dh400 along with giving an undertaking that the offence will not be repeated.
The use of pet dogs for dog-fighting and not putting them in secure places before travelling is strictly prohibited and can lead to their confiscation.
