Women cuts off rapist’s genitals: Chief Minister Reacts

A 23-year-old woman cut off the genitals of swami, who was allegedly sexually abusing her since she was in her teens and who allegedly tried to rape her on Friday night in Pettah, Trivandrum.

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan called her “courageous”, what she did is right, she will have state’s full support” he added.

Gangeshananda Teethapadam alias Hariswami, 54, of Panmana Ashram in Kollam, was admitted to a hospital for treatment.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Friday night when Hari allegedly tried to rape the woman at her residence. She cut his penis using a knife.

Police said that the man had been allegedly sexually abusing the woman ever since she was a Class XII student.

The accused claimed to be a saint associated with the Chattambi Swami Ashram in Kollam, but the ashram authorities denied any association with him.

“He was a Brahmachari at the ashram 15 years ago. Later, he quit. But it is learned that he was using the ashram for his fame,” said an official at the ashram.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Arul B Krishna said that the girl’s father was bed-ridden for many years and her mother got in relation with the swami for conducting regular poojas at home.
