American held with explosives at Airport

An American national was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly carrying five live cartridges of 38 bore calibre when he was about to board a flight to Delhi from Amritsar airport

During preliminary investigations, George Danid Gilbert, resident of New York city in USA, told the police that he was a professional shooter and while coming to India he mistakenly brought the cartridges along with him, SHO Parmdeep Kaur said. 

Kaur said the cartridges were seized when Gilbert’s luggage was screened during the routine checking at the airport.

The matter was reported to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which handed him over to the Punjab police, the SHO said.
