Kerala all set to host its first transgender beauty contest ‘Dhwayah Queen 2017’

With regards to gender equality, Kerala has been taking additional measures towards more noteworthy inclusivity for the transgender group. After government occupations and facilitating an athletic meet, the state is presently adapting to have the principal ever beauty contest for transgenders. The one-of-its-kind beauty pageant will be held in Kochi on June 15.

An activity by a relationship of transgenders in Kerala called the ‘Dhwayah Arts and Cultural society’, the occasion is about looks and excellence as well as about concentrating on the strengthening and incorporation of the third gender orientation in the general public.

“Our endeavour is to convey more transgenders to the standard of society and help them discover occupations and methods for vocation,” said Sheethal Shyam, a transgender activist.

Up until this point, tries out for two regions — Kochi and Malabar have been directed, and 15 and 11 hopefuls have been chosen from the two zones individually.

After preparatory rounds, 27 candidates will take an interest in the two-day last prepping session in Kochi. Fifteen among them will be chosen for the final beauty competition and the winner will be awarded the ‘Queen of Dhwayah 2017’ title.

The members experienced a preparing session led by the prestigious make-up artist, Renju Renjimar, and choreographer, Vishwalatha Sudarshan.

Renjimar said,” The thought is to give transgenders more certainty, to be dynamic in the standard. In spite of the fact that Kerala has turned out to be more trans-friendly, we are still victimized. We trust this show will help transgenders. I am cheerful to the State that more than 40 transgender individuals turned up only for the first audition.”

The auditions were judged by Femina Miss India Bangalore 2016, first runner-up, Elizabeth Thadikaran, and Fashion choreographer Sunil Menon.

Miss World 2008 first runner-up, and fbb Colors Femina Miss India 2017 South Zone guide, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Ranjini Haridas will be the judges for the last round while actress Shweta Menon will crown the champ.

Despite the fact that it is the first occasion when Kerala will have a stunner challenge for the transgenders, it is not the first in India. Prior, in 2010, Indian Super Queen pageant was held in Mumbai to commend the beauty and ability of transgender individuals by activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi.
