Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ‘Sampada’- a food processing scheme today, adding that government wants to strengthen the farmer community by doubling their incomes.
“Farmers’ income should be doubled by 2022, it’s time to increase our progress gradually,” Modi said.
The new projects in Assam are aimed to accelerate the development of the state and other North-Eastern states, according to a PTI report.
Earlier in the day, Modi inaugurated ‘India’s longest’, Dhola-Sadiya bridge in the state. May 26 marks the day when Modi was sworn as the Prime Minister after leading the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a massive victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
