Major fire breaks out at Chennai Silks showroom

A major fire broke out in the multi-storied Chennai Silks textile showroom at the busy T-Nagar area in Chennai today morning.

However, no casualties were reported. Police said that the fire was noticed  around 5 am and fire tender personnel rushed to the spot and are struggling to put off the fire till now.

The fire, which broke out on the ground floor of the building, spread even to the seventh floor of the showroom within few hours.

Around 15 employees, who were staying on the third floor of the building, were rescued immediately.

Police have cordoned off the area and are not allowing the public anywhere near the building, which is affected by the fire.
