The Arogyakeralam awards by the state government for local bodies in the effective implementation of health projects were announced. Kollam district panchayat, Kattappana municipality in Idukki, Perambra panchayat in Kozhikode won first prizes.
The winners were selected based on projects details entered into the software Information Kerala Mission. Details collected from health institutes, online reporting and field inspections were included.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present the awards at a function to be held at University Senate Hall at 5.30 pm on Monday.
The prize money for top performers is Rs 10 lakh (first prize), Rs 5 lakh (second) and Rs 3 lakh (third)
All other six corporations in the state failed to get 50%. Thrissur won the consolation prize when Kasaragod and Malappuram won the second and third place respectively in the category of district panchayats.
Health minister K K Shylaja, while announcing the awards, said it was a recognition for local bodies that effectively implement popular health schemes under comprehensive health project.
