Modi Govt plans to set up Janaushadhi outlets at railway establishments including stations. Department of Pharmaceuticals and Ministry of Railways on Tuesday agreed to sign an MoU to open such shops.
The Janaushadhi campaign was launched by the Centre to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the masses through special outlets – the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras.
“The railways will sign an agreement with the Department of Pharmaceuticals for setting up outlets on rail premises including railway stations, dispensaries and workshops,” Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said after meeting Union Chemical and Fertilisers Minister Ananth Kumar.
The Department of Pharmaceuticals is opening Janaushadhi outlets in different places to provide generic drugs at cheaper price.
The generic medicines provided by these outlets at lesser prices are equivalent in quality and efficacy to expensive branded drugs.
