Two Pakistani soldiers were killed in retaliation by Indian troops on Thursday after the Pakistan Army violated ceasefire for the third time along the Line of Control across two sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Pakistan Army resorted to shelling of mortar bombs and firing of small arms and automatic weapons on forward posts and civilians areas in in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
There have been 10 ceasefire violations in the past four days and a total of 14 ceasefire violations along the LoC and the International Border in Jammu region since 1 January. One civilian has died in the violations and another seven have been injured.
In escalated terror violence in Kashmir, militants engineered seven grenade attacks and firing incidents in the Valley on Wednesday where 14 policemen were injured. Four rifles were snatched by militants from the them.
“Pakistan Army initiated indiscriminate firing of mortars, small arms, automatics RPG, Recoilless Rifles from 1840 hours in Naushera sector along the LoC in Rajouri district on Thursday,” Defence Spokesman Lt Col Manish Mehta said.
Mehta added that the Indian Army posts were retaliating strongly and effectively.
