Yamaha to launch new Fazer 250 in india on October. The Yamaha Fazer 250 shares its platform with its naked streetfighter cousin – FZ25. Even the headlamp of the upcoming sports tourer resembles to the unit fitted in the FZ25, as revealed in the latest spy shots. Rest of the design philosophy in the Fazer 250 stays intact with the FZ25, including the cycle parts.
Powering the Yamaha Fazer 250 will be the same 249cc, single cylinder motor that propels the FZ25. The fuel injected, oil-cooled mill is good for cranking out respective power and torque figures of 20.69 bhp and 20 Nm.
However, in the Fazer 250, the engine may see some fine tunings to offer the characteristics of a tourer. Gearbox will be the same five-speed unit.
Prime highlights of the Yamaha Fazer 250 include a sporty full faired design, disc brakes at both ends, LED headlamp & tail lamp and a full digital instrument cluster. Since the FZ25 misses out on an ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), there is a high possibility that the safety equipment will be absent on the Fazer 250 as well.
The Fazer has always been seen as one of the most respect worthy entry-level touring motorcycles in the Indian two-wheeler market. Following the similar traits, the Fazer 250 too will come with some decent touring credentials that will indeed make it a true blue machine for long hauls on the highways.
Thanks to the well positioned footpegs and a relatively upright riding position, the Yamaha Fazer 250 looks to possess the capabilities of the best sports tourer in India at present in the respective segment. Especially when the Hero Karizma ZMR is going through a miserable sales, it is a good time for Yamaha to well utilise the opportunity with its Fazer 250.
Once launched, the Yamaha Fazer 250 will primarily compete with the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 and Hero Karizma ZMR in the Indian two-wheeler market. Expect its pricing to stay somewhere close to INR 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
