Liquor and tobacco is fine but not girls wearing jeans

A sermon from the village of Rajasthan allegedly banned girls from wearing jeans and using mobile phones. The issue had struck a wrong note with the Rajasthan Women Commission. The panchayat was reportedly called to discuss social reforms like the prohibition of liquor, money betting and tobacco.

The Commission took cognizance of media reports that members of Kushwah community had Saturday called upon a panchayath at Dholpur district which allegedly put ban on girls wearing jeans and carrying mobile phone on the ground of western culture was adversely affecting the dignity of community

The acting SHO of Kaurali police station in Dholpur, Gambhir Singh told that a team was sent to the village to inquire about the matter, but the so-called ban on girls could not be confirmed.
