Volvo India has today launched the all-new Volvo V90 Cross Country in India for a starting price of RS 60 lakhs (ex-showroom). Volvo has a diversified portfolio up its sleeve in India and it’s the only manufacturer to have a station wagon in the country.
The new Volvo V90 will be locally produced in India and will be available in a single trim with 8-speed gearbox mated with Volvo’s D5 engine that is powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged motor that churns out 235 bhp and 480 Nm torque output.
The Volvo V90 comes with active Adaptive Headlights with cornering function, 23 Concave Multiple Bars Grille and Skid Plates in the front. On the rear is the sleek LED Tail Lamps, Dual-Integrated Tail Pipes and body cladding around the body, which make it look chunkier, in-line with regular SUVs. The standard 20-inch wheels on the car provide it a higher ground clearance by 60mm.
The cabin of the V90 exudes luxury as it gets Nappa leather upholstery, four-zone climate control along with a panoramic sunroof. The car also gets a large 12.3-inch drivers display and steering wheel now comes with the pedal shifters.
The Volvo V90 Cross Country has a bucket load of features right from comfort features to safety features. This car also features self-park assist function just like most of the new cars in this price range. Apart from the usual 8 airbags, ABS, EBD functions, it comes with a Lane Departure control, just like S90.
Segment wise the car is not expected to face any tough competition as this car is one of its kind but in this price range, the Volvo V90 is expected to compete with the likes of BMW X3, Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.
