Sharjah Police have arrested a flight booking employee of a travel agency at Khorfukkan for making false reservations and selling fake tickets worth more than Dh400,000(INR 70 lakh Approx). The employee attracted a large number of summer vacationers by offering them a low-cost ticket deals.
According to a police source, the employee handed out his customers fake offers including booking of tickets, hotels, food and internal mobility.”The suspect was arrested after he tried to flee his office to avoid legal action.”
Police said according to the statement of the victims, when they arrived at the airport, they were surprised to discover that there were no reservations and their tickets were fake.
The victims said that when they approached the travel agency’s office to get their money back, it refused to help them out.
Brigadier Saif Mohammed Al Zari, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, said that the Sharjah Police represented by the Eastern Region Police Department, received complaints from several people about a travel agency office in Khorfakkan city selling fake tickets to them. The police formed an investigation team and arrested the suspect.
Police are still investigating the case and will soon reveal more information.
Brigadier Al Zari urged members of the society to be wary of such fraudsters. He called on the people to buy and book tickets through approved travel agencies and reliable travel companies, or through the offices of the airlines.
