Cricketer Parvinder Awana, who has played for India in two Twenty Internationals, was allegedly beaten up by a group of hooligans in Greater Noida. The Kings XI Punjab and Delhi paceman said the unidentified men fled away towards Dankaur village after attacking him.
“I saw some criminals fighting among themselves at a welding shop there,” Awana said.
he first-class cricketer was on his way back from Haridwar when he spotted the men fighting and tried to intervene which led to further altercations.
“They thrashed me and fled from the spot,” Awana added.The state police have started an investigation into the assault.
Awana has made two appearances for India in a T20I series against England in 2012.
