Eight Islamic State militants were killed on Wednesday when security forces pounded the outfit’s positions in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
The forces on Tuesday targeted militant hideouts in Achin district, Xinhua news agency quoted police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashirqwal as saying.
A cache of arms and ammunition has also been destroyed, he said.
Militants loyal to the Islamic State group who are active in parts of the eastern Nangarhar province are yet to make comment.
