Adding a pool to your backyard need not be a challenging and complex affair, but the result will often leave you amazed, as you will discover a brand new hangout just a few steps away from your living room.
Swimming pools cost
There are mainly two types of swimming pools—the above and the in-ground varieties. Building a swimming pool in India costs around Rs.1.75 lakhs to 3 lakhs approximately depending on what material you use and also the size of your pool.
Generally, it is advisable to pay a professional to tackle the project while some manufacturers insist that an experienced homeowner could feasibly build the pool on their own.
Additionally, the DIY pools will usually come with a two or three-year warranty which translates to a huge amount of financial commitment for a very short-term feature.
In addition to that, the pool Accessories like the pumps, ladders, and filters and cleaning materials like brushes, vacuum assemblies, covers, and chemicals will add on to the cost. Many will also need thermometers and even heaters. These costs start at roughly Rs.25000/-, and can easily reach well into the thousands.
Material for Swimming pools
There are many types of an in-ground manufactured swimming pool on the market today such as concrete, fibreglass and vinyl and the most common type is the concrete one which represents 60% of pools being built today.
Concrete pools offer limitless options for shape and configuration features. The excavation site is mostly reinforced with steel and provides a sturdy support for pools of any shape or size.
Fibreglass pools are manufactured in a factory and constitute 7% of the market and are limited in the variety of shapes available. Vinyl-lined pools are normally in a kit with construction completing at the site and represent 33% of the pool market.
When selecting materials for your pool, you should mainly consider safety, durability, comfort and appearance. You will need to choose materials for the pool deck, the copying, the interior of the pool and of course the waterline.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that the materials will be in contact with water that contains chlorine, acid and possibly salt. They will also be in contact with bare feet and swimming suits. It will be easiest to pick materials if you decide what overall look you are trying to achieve first.
The best option would be to select paving that will be comfortable on bare feet. A dark surface can be a mistake because it absorbs heat. Tiles are considered as the jewellery for your pool. They are your chance to accessorise in a way that will provide a wow factor.
Time to finish
Swimming pool installation is kind of a lengthy process, for sure, but it can be broken down into a few general steps to get an idea of how long will it take to make your first dip. Starting with design, and excavation, and then the plastering, and finally relaxing on your tanning shelf with your feet in the cool water.
Design: This may take up to 1 to 8 weeks since it is the most difficult stage to estimate time for whereas the design process is as simple as ever thanks to our use of 3D modelling.
Excavation: This process is easy and may take maximum 1 week. Once we have the designs ready, we can schedule the excavation. This is typically a very quick process, but few things do affect the timing such as ease of access, the need to work around utility lines, and more. Often times, this process will get done in a day or two.
Plumbing, electrical, steel: up to 1 to 2 weeks. After the pool is dug, the steel is laid, the electrical and plumbing are routed. This process is fairly quick and can be completed within 2 weeks depending on the size and complexity of your swimming pool design.
Gunite, Plaster, Vinyl, Fiberglass – 1-3 weeks. If you are planning to install a vinyl or fibreglass pool, then the process is fairly easy as the manufactured pool liner is brought in and installed.
If you are planning to get a gunite swimming pool, however, this takes a little bit longer. We have to schedule the gunite crew and then plaster and allow time for the gunite to cure which can take up to a week. Well, it hardly takes 6-8 weeks in order to complete the construction of the pool.
Seasonal conditions such as the time of the year and the temperature may also affect the installation of pools. The time will also vary depending on the location of where the pool is installed, as well as the number of inspections required by the township. The nature and complexity of the project may also lengthen the time.
