The consulate General of India in Dubai will be hosting a yoga event this Friday aimed at highlighting the spiritual and physical benefits of Sahaja Yoga; a unique form of meditation based on self-realization.
Friday’s event is open to all and free for life. Non-Indian nationals, however, will have to pre-register by sending their name and identification documents to sahajayogaUAE2017@gmail.com. Additionally, a follow-on event open to all nationalities, without the need for pre-registration, will be held on Saturday at the Sindhi Ceremonial Hall in Bur Dubai, which is located near the Al Fahidi Market.
Sahaja Yoga was developed by Smt. Mataji Nirmala Devi in 1970. Since then, it has spread around the world, with many practitioners in the UAE.
According to the event’s organizers, Sahaja Yoga “is a scientific and simple method of bringing focus within ourselves. We become grounded, as our heart blooms within this awareness.” The organisation’s website notes. “We find balance, we understand how to cure several diseases and know ourselves better.”
Among the health benefits of Sahaja Yoga are the reduction of physical “over-activity” in the human body.
“Since the system is also the part of us which governs the ‘fight or flight’ mechanism, this can prove to be a major benefit to our health,” Sahajayoga UAE said on its website. “There are immediate benefits in stress relief and a feeling of peace and contentment. Physically, it helps in prevention and cure of illnesses which are otherwise difficult to cure mentally and emotionally. It helps one to attain balance, and spiritually. Through this yoga, one can attain the highest level of enlightenment.”
