13-year-old bleeds to death while onlookers take photos and videos

In an unfortunate incident, a young girl lost her life in a park while she was playing with her friends on Saturday. The victim has been identified as 13-year-old Priya Gowda who lived in Baddi Krishnappa Layout Bengaluru ,very close to the park. The victim was the eldest of the two children of Gowda and Vijayakumari.

According to sources, an elderly woman allegedly forced the security guard to open the park so that she could carry on with her evening walk. This is when the victim along with her friends also entered the park and began to play around with the new equipment for the park that was still to be installed.

The victim is believed to have climbed the slide that had not been installed as yet and it crashed on her, leading to her receiving grievous head injuries.

Mayor of the city, G Padmavathi, who visited the grieving parents tells that they came to console the victim’s family members and nothing more should be read into their visit. She further stated that since the park was old, it was closed for renovation and the play equipment had just recently arrived.

The Mayor also clarified that it was an old woman who requested the security guard to open the park so that the children could play in it.

“What is more shocking is that onlookers clicked photos and recorded videos rather than shifting the girl to a hospital. It is such a shameful act. People should come forward and help those in need,” she said.

In fact sources tell us that for almost 25 minutes the victim lay bleeding on the ground with no help. It was a good Samaritan, an army man, who took the girl on his bike to a nearby hospital when he heard about the accident but she was declared brought dead.

The victim’s father when asked if the Mayor offered compensation, lambasted all who were present saying, “If they had spoken about compensation, I would have slippered them. I wouldn’t have hesitated to do this to whoever it might have been if they ever brought up the issue of money.”

Two days after the incident took place, the police have taken up a case against BBMP officials but have not named them yet since they do not know who exactly are responsible for the young girl’s death. ‘But whoever was in-charge of the park and in whatever capacity and we are trying to find out how it happened and this is really unfortunate,’ said Seemanth Kumar Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police (East).
