Woman thrown from the fourth floor for resisting rape

A 20-year-old young woman was allegedly thrown from the fourth floor of an under-construction building for resisting a rape bid by her 22-year-old colleague in outer Delhi’s Begumpur.

The woman, who suffered major head injuries, is said to be in a coma and battling for life at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital.

Her family members suspect the role of more person in the incident. “We think more than one person was involved,” said her father.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rishi Pal said Rama Vihar resident Deepak had been arrested and a case under IPC Sections 307, 366, 511 and 376 lodged at the Begumpur police station.

“He has confessed to taking the woman to an under-construction building and attempting to rape her. When she resisted his advances, he pushed her from the fourth floor of the building and fled the spot,” said a senior police officer. Locals informed the police, after which she was rushed to the hospital.
