A newborn baby reportedly survived 2 hours in the sewerage tank after his mother delivered in the toilet unknowingly. A woman in Madhya Pradesh allegedly delivered in a lavatory bowl of a toilet and flushed her down without realising it.
When she complained of immense pain in the abdomen afterwards, 28-year old Papita Gurjar was rushed to the Vijaypur Community Health Centre (CHC) by her family who believed it was the labour pain. When she was being operated for a C-section, the doctors were surprised to discover that her uterus was empty.
The woman may have delivered in the toilet without realising.
The hospital rushed an ambulance to the patient’s house where the baby was discovered by the ambulance driver. The man heard the infant’s cries and rescued her from the sewerage tank. The doctors said that although the baby was alive, she was gasping for breath. However, she had survived the 2-hour ordeal in the tank.
