Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to implement more than 9,500 road projects worth Rs 27,000 crore on August 29 in Rajasthan. The projects include national highways, state roads, and rural roads. Besides chief minister Vasundhara Raje and Union highways minister Nitin Gadkari, PM Modi is all set to visit Udaipur next week to lay foundation stones for projects.
109 projects over 3,000 kilometers are being funded by the road transport ministry and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The projects primarily involve widening of highways and improvement and construction of state roads.
Modi will dedicate a total of 11 NHs (873 km) constructed at an expense of Rs 4,925.12 crore to the nation while laying foundations for NH (555 km) to come up at a cost of Rs 7,374 crore. The stretches for which Modi will lay the foundation also includes a six-lane cable stayed bridge across river Chambal at Kota.
PM is also expected to address a mammoth rally while rolling out the infrastructure projects. Rajasthan is one of the leading states in implementing public-private-partnership road projects under the build-operate and-transfer (BOT) model. Most of the projects fall under rural initiative programs such as PM Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Rajasthan Road Sector Modernization Project (RRSMP) and Gramin Gaurav Path.
