Police have arrested a gang of four Arabs who stole cash by breaking donation boxes kept in the mosques of the Emirate.
Major Ahmed Said Al Nuaimi, director of the department of criminal investigation, said that a cleaning worker in a mosque informed the police that some unknown people got into the mosque through a window and broke the donation boxes which belonged to General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments. They stole the cash in it.
The Ajman police carried out a swift probe and arrested a suspect who was identified as A.M.M. The suspect confessed to having committed the crime with the help of three others, including H.H.A, A.A.M and A.M.T. – all of Arab nationality.
The three were immediately arrested. They admitted to having stolen money from another donation box from a mosque. The defendants were referred to the public prosecution.
Al Nuaimi praised the cops for their prompt action and arresting the culprits in record time. “We condemn this crime which affected the sanctity of the mosques.”
He called on the public to report any person trying to commit any kind of crime, or violation. Police will deal firmly with them, he pointed out.
