Two people died and several others injured in East Delhi after a part of the Ghazipur garbage landfill collapsed on Friday afternoon, sweeping several vehicles on a nearby road into a canal.
Delhi Police confirmed two deaths as rescue workers attempted to look for more people who may have been buried under trash or swept into the Kondli drain.
One of the victims was identified as Raj Kumar, a woman in her early 20s. The other victim, a man, was yet to be identified.
At least four people were rescued.
“Rescue operation is underway. Reason of the incident can be ascertained only after investigation,” said Ranbir Singh, commissioner of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, News agency reported.
