Has James Bond decided to hang up his gun and settle down? It seems like the crime of the century. Unfortunately it is also true. Sort of.
Daniel Craig’s aka James Bond aka sexiest killer in a suit recently announced return to the 007 series and is set to take an unexpected ultra romantic turn, according to new plot leaks.
The film, currently under the working title Bond 25, will see Bond get married, sources on the project told. Penned by Robert Wade and Neal Purvis – the screenwriters on all of Craig’s Bond films to date, from Casino Royale to Spectre – the film is set to open with a newly retired Bond in “wedded bliss” with Dr Madeleine Swann (Lea Seydoux), his love interest at the end of Spectre.
The film’s like Taken with Bond,” a source explained.
Fans have already noted the echoes to Ian Fleming’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, which saw Bond tie the knot to Tracy Draco, the only Bond girl the agent ever married.
The novel’s 1969 film adaptation saw Bond (George Lazenby) driving off to settle down with Tracy (Diana Rigg), only to have her die in a hail of bullets from foe Blofeld (Telly Savalas), as Louis Armstrong’s brutally ironic We Have All The Time In The World plays.
Largely derided among viewers for Aussie Lazenby’s wooden performance in the wake of Sean Connery’s retirement, the film has since been reappraised for its mod-leanings, New Wave-esque aesthetics, and that tragically affecting ending.
