Rahul a failed leader who runs off to US to lecture, says Amit Shah

Rahul Gandhi is a failed political leader who has to run off to the United States to deliver lectures as nobody is willing to listen to him in India, Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah seemed to say today.

Shah’s comments were in response to a lecture that Gandhi delivered at the University of California in Berkeley. The Congress leader fervidly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying his government had ruined India’s economy with the badly planned demonetisation exercise.

To counter Gandhi, the BJP seems to have pulled out its top guns – earlier in the day the Union Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani called Rahul Gandhi a “failed dynast” who “today chose to speak about his failed political journeys”.

“The fact that Mr. Gandhi chose to belittle the PM is not surprising, [and is] in fact expected. [The] fact that he [Rahul Gandhi] said that dynasts and dynasties is the very fulcrum of India in itself is an anomaly,” Irani said in response to Gandhi saying that dynasty politics was part of India.

“Most of the country runs like this. That’s how India works… don’t blame us [Congress] for that… Akhilesh Yadav [is a dynast], even Abhishek Bachchan is a dynast. That [is] how entire country is run… Mr Ambani [is also a dynast]… am trying to change it in Congress party,” Gandhi had said.
