Nawaz Sharif is to remain disqualified P.M, as the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday dismissed his review plea against disqualification as PM in connection with the Panama Papers case.
While dismissing the review petition, the Pakistan Supreme Court upheld the verdict disqualifying Sharif as the prime minister of Pakistan. While holding a hearing on the petition, the court had said yesterday that documents submitted by a probe team in the case showed that Sharif had received a salary in August 2013 from the UAE-based company owned by his son.
The Supreme Court had earlier on July 28 disqualified Sharif as Prime Minister for dishonesty and ordered filing of corruption cases against him and his children over the scandal.
Sharif, 67, was disqualified under Article 62(1)(f) for failing to declare unclaimed wages earned as an executive of a Dubai-based company owned by his son in the assets statement he filed alongside his nomination papers for NA-120 (Lahore) seat in the 2013 general elections.
The development came as an Islamabad-based accountability court earlier this week issued summons to Sharif and his sons Hussain and Hassan for September 19 in cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over alleged corruption by the ruling family.
One of the four cases against Sharif and his children is about purchase of four luxury flats in the posh Park Lane area of London.
