Pakistan recently embarrassed itself at the United Nations when its UN representative held up a picture of a Palestine victim to target India for the atrocities in the Kashmir Valley.
The picture that Maleeha Lodhi, the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, held up was a 2014 picture of 17-year-old Gazan girl Rawya abu Jom, clicked by photojournalist Heidi Levine.
Levine stated that Pakistan’s action compromised the dignity of the 17-year-old girl.
“I am concerned that my image was misused and as a journalist, it is important that we uphold the highest level of credibility. I am not upset for me personally, I am more upset for Rawya. It is compromising the dignity of my subject,” Levine said.
Levine added that she will be writing a letter to the authorities in Pakistan.
A day after Pakistan goofed up at United Nations by holding up a wrong picture to try and attack India; India hit back, exposing at the United Nations the “nefarious designs of Pakistan.”
“Pakistan misled the assembly by displaying the picture to spread falsehoods about India. A fake picture was used to push a completely false narrative,” India stated, using the Right to Reply.
The Permanent Representative of Pakistan Maleeha Lodhi on Sunday had held up a picture from Palestine to depict the “human rights violations” in the Kashmir Valley.
Paulomi Tripathi, the Secretary with India’s permanent mission to the UN, held up a picture of Lt Ummer Fayaz, the officer from Jammu and Kashmir who was abducted and killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in May earlier this year.
