Maharashtra Tourism Development Board has won the award for sustainable tourism at the world tourism conclave held in Mumbai recently.
“Maharashtra has it all — beaches, hills, forests and wilderness. We welcome tourists to our state. It is now up to us to improve civic sense and keep our natural heritage clean. Enjoy your travel but respect the environment, we must understand that Sustainable Tourism leads to sustainable development,” said Vijay Waghmare, Managing Director of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Board while speaking to the audience at the World Tourism Conclave.
“We are proud of our Western Ghats, beaches, wildlife parks and eco-friendly destinations like Matheran,” added Waghmare.
The stalwarts of the tourism fraternity, climate reality, United Nations, Global Sustainable Tourism Council, Maharashtra Tourism and Consul Generals from many parts of the globe were present at the event organized by Creed Entertainment and Young Environmentalists.
The conclave called for enforcement of sustainable tourism norms and also awarded successful organizations in the sustainable industry.
