R Madhavan-starrer Tamil thriller “Virkam Vedha”, “Bioscopewala”, a reinterpretation of Tagore’s short story” and “Sexy Durga” are the three Indian films to be screened at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
“Vikram Vedha”, a modern retelling of the mythical tale of King Vikramadityan and the demon Bethal, was a huge hit at the box office. The film featured Vijay Sethupathi as a gangster to Madhvan’s encounter cop.
“The big news is here! We are happy to inform that ‘Vikram Vedha’ has been selected at Tokyo International Film Festival,” Y Not Studios, the producers of the film, shared the news on Twitter.

The film, directed by Deb Medhekar, is a modern retelling of Rabindranath Tagore’s famous story, “Kabuliwala”.
“For me, ‘Kabuliwala’ was a classic story restricted to school textbooks. Through ‘The Bioscopewala’, I wanted to embark with my audience on a journey to rediscover who he was what his travails meant what the essential, innocent core was, that time had managed to make distant.
“The travel from ‘Kabuliwala’ to ‘The Bioscopewala’ also afforded a huge opportunity to pay tribute to cinema itself,” Medhekar said in a statement.
The film stars Danny Dengzongpa, Adil Hussain, Tisca Chopra and Geetanjali Thapa.
“Sexy Durga” by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan will be screend in the World Focus category of the festival, which runs from October 23 to November 3.
The movie revolves around Durga, a female north Indian migrant, is running away from somewhere with a Muslim man named Kabeer.
