World Heart Day 2017 : Apollo Hospitals launches ‘Healthy Heart Programme’

Health care provider Apollo Hospitals today announced the “Healthy Heart programme” coinciding with the observance of World Heart Day.

The programme is a heart disease prevention and reversal programme, which is based on global clinical research with proven results, a press release said.

It would be spearheaded by an expert team of cardiologists and be available across 60 Apollo Hospitals across the country.

“It is tailored to help persons prone to heart diseases and patients already suffering from heart ailments to arrest and reverse the progress of the disease”, the release said.

“Around 20 per cent of heart attacks observed across Apollo Hospitals are in the age group of 25-35 years. With these numbers, it is difficult to guarantee the heart health of young India in the future”, Apollo Hospitals Chairman Dr Prathap C Reddy said.

“Through this initiative, Apollo Hospitals wants to ensure Indians get the best of counselling and treatment. We want to nurture a healthy India with a healthy heart”.

Apollo Hospitals Joint Managing Director Sangita Reddy said most patients approach the hospital or consult a doctor only when they experience “serious discomfort”.

“This programme is developed to engage with patients, as well as to those prone to heart disease, well in advance to ensure that they receive all round consultation”, she said.

The programme offers continuing doctor consultations, four cardiologist consults a year and diet and lifestyle counselling, among others.

Persons enrolling for the programme are eligible for a 15 per cent discount and those people undergoing angioplasty or bypass surgery would be automatically enrolled in the programme for a year, the release added.
