J&K: Pakistan troops open fire in Poonch, India retaliates

Pakistan troops opened fire along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district today.

“The ceasefire violation by Pakistan occurred in Digwar sector in Nakarkote village in Poonch. Indian troops returned fire,” a source said.

There are no reports of any casualties.

Pakistan troops had earlier opened fire in Poonch on Monday in the Kerni and Digwar sectors resulting in the death of a 10-year-old boy, a teenage girl and another child.

Indian troops had fired in retaliation and the exchange of fire between the two sides continued for a few hours.

On the same day, a terrorist was killed as security forces foiled an infiltration bid in the J&K’s Keran sector.

On Tuesday, three Jaish-E-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists had entered into a Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Srinagar and killed one soldier.

A nine-hour gun battle resulted in all three Jaish terrorists being killed but authorities suspect there is still another JeM cadre – the fourth terrorist- roaming free in the Valley, plotting another fidayeen attack.
