In the report submitted by the collector, Kozhancherry district hospital had flawed in providing treatment to the five-year-old girl child, who was subjected to sexual harassment in Pathanamthitta.
“The child who was taken to the hospital with police escort was made to wait for about six hours. This is a serious flaw. Action may be taken against two doctors for dereliction of duty,” the report said.
The report has been submitted to health department secretary.
The victim was brought to the hospital on September 15. As the hospital authorities were not ready to examine the child or treat her, the child and team had waited for about six hours at the hospital. As their wait went in vain, they returned home by night.
The next day, the girl was taken to Pathanamthitta district hospital and examined.
As the incident became a controversy, the DMO conducted a preliminary inquiry and found gynaecology doctors Ganga and Lekha to be guilty. The probe conducted by the collector later found that the hospital authorities were also guilty.
