After a break of 20 years, Kate Winslet is set to re unite with Titanic director James Cameron for his upcoming Avatar sequels.
“Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career. I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life,” Cameron said.
Released in 2009, Avatar currently holds the record for highest grossing film till date with collections of $2.8 billion.
The upcoming four sequels of the film will hit theatres starting on December 18, 2020, for Avatar 2.
Avatar 3 will release on December 17, 2021, followed by a three-year break for Avatar 4, which is slated for December 20, 2024. Avatar 5 will release on December 19, 2025.
Cameron began filming the first of the four movies last week in California.
The films will mark the return of previous cast members including Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, CCH Pounder and Stephen Lang.
