Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant in Gurgaon got a surprise visit from a leopard today at 4 a.m. The adventurous animal was last spotted having a browse around the factories engine room. Security guards and logistic staff present were quick to clear the premise in lieu of new updates.
Authorities that included cops and officials, rushed to the factory to rescue the animal. The leopard, which has brought all proceedings at the plant to a standstill, was last spotted having a browse around the factories engine room. Officials are using the CCTV set-up to track the animal’s location inside the factory, although there is yet to be a concrete confirmation from authorities.
Morning shift at the factory has been scrapped and staff members have been asked not to enter the complex. Around 2,000 workers have gathered at the location outside the complex but were greeted by a shut gate.
“Police rushed to the spot as soon as we received the information. The premises were immediately evacuated and we have sealed the area. The rescue operation is on and over 100 cops have been deployed at the spot,” said Ashok Bakshi, DCP (South). Maruti is yet to make a statement on the matter and is still in damage control mode.
