Indian Navy foiled a piracy attempt on cargo ship MV Jag Amar in the Gulf of Aden on Friday, Navy spokesperson said. INS Trishul came to the rescue of the Indian flag-bearing vessel at around 12:30 pm.
Captain DK Sharma, a spokesperson, stated that the Navy’s Commandos are currently on board the MV Jag Amar.
An AK-47 and another magazine with 27 rounds were recovered. Twelve suspected pirates on board a skiff with a small anchor and ladders are said to be responsible for the attack. An operation is currently underway.
The cargo ship was en route Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
