As the elections are nearing, the Election Commission is gearing up to announce the various dates for the forthcoming elections. The elections to Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assemblies will be announced today evening.
The poll panel has convened a press conference for today evening to announce the poll schedule. While the term of the 182-member Gujarat Assembly ends on January 22, the term of the 68-member HP Assembly ends on January 7.
While the Congress has not named any leader as its chief ministerial candidate for Gujarat polls, it has announced incumbent Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh as the CM candidate for Himachal Pradesh.
