A Bengaluru based artist found a unique way of protesting against pothole deaths in the city. This artist converted the pothole in the Cubbon Park Junction area into a mermaid’s living space. The photo of this unique protest was shared by the news agency on its Twitter handle.

A couple of days back, Bengaluru witnessed its 4th pothole-related death after a woman riding pillion on a two-wheeler was killed on Tuesday when a truck rammed the vehicle as the rider was trying to avoid a pothole in Karnataka capital, news agency reported.
The 21-year-old woman was identified as G Veena. She was the fourth casualty this month, with the primary reason being the battered condition of some of the city’s roads.
Briefing the media about the accident, the police had said that Veena, a resident of Kundana in Devanahalli, was heading home riding pillion with elder sister G Lakshmi (24). While trying to negotiate a pothole, Lakshmi slowed down the two-wheeler when a truck hit them from behind.
Last week, the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had directed the civic agency to make the city roads pothole free within a fortnight. Earlier, a 47-year old woman lost her life after being run over by a truck at Pantharapalya near Nayandahalli. Back then, Siddaramaiah had visited the spot where the accident took place. He was also joined by Bengaluru Mayor S Sampath Raj and BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad.
“This year we received rains like never before due to which potholes have surfaced on the road. This accident should not have happened. No one should die. I condole the death of the woman. Already compensation has been given (to the next to the kin of deceased),” he had said.
