CBI turns it’s eye to Kerala, will soon begin to probe political murders

Kerala seems to be in turmoil, now a days with two parties blaming each other for it. After the BJP rally today, it will be no surprise if there is another walk to show strength. Amid the raging row in Kerala, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) told the High Court that it was ready to probe alleged political killings.

The CBI submission in the Kerala High Court came during a hearing on a plea from R K Premdas, secretary of the Kannur-based Gopalan Adiyodi Vakkeel Smaraka Trust secretary, seeking an investigation into seven political murders allegedly committed by the ruling CPI-M ever since the UDF government came to power in May last year.

The High Court had recently sought a response from the state government on the rise in political murders in the state. The government is likely to file an affidavit in the High Court on the matter on October 25.

In his petition, R K Premdas, secretary of the Kannur-based Gopalan Adiyodi Vakkeel Smaraka Trust secretary, said that he was taking up the cause of victims of political murders. His petition primarily focused on murders of seven RSS or BJP activists, allegedly carried out by CPI-M workers.

Earlier this month, Amit Shah had slammed the CPI-M government over the “political killings” of BJP-RSS workers in the state, saying it was being done to “instil fear” among the people.

Shah also alleged that the political killings in Kerala were being carried out on the “orders” of CM Vijayan.
