A probe report on the alleged land encroachment by State Transport Minister Thomas Chandy has handed over to Revenue Principal Secretary P.H. Kurien by Alappuzha District Collector T.V. Anupama. The report has inferred that portions of the Marthandam lake were leveled for the construction of the minister’s Lake Palace Resort.
Earlier, the collector had submitted her preliminary report to the government. The report had inferences based on satellite images showing changes in the land use pattern in the area over the past several years.
Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan said he was yet to see the report, while opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala reiterated the demand for Chandy’s resignation.
